Hydrotherapy
Our Moreton All Body Care hydrotherapy classes are run at the Burpengary Regional Aquatic Leisure Centre. These weekly classes are undertaken in a small group, run by our Exercise Physiologists. Hydrotherapy can be beneficial for both short-term or long-term health conditions or injuries, to assist with rehabilitation or management.
The benefits of hydrotherapy can include pain relief, a reduction in swelling, improvements in circulation with the promotion of muscular relaxation from the warm water temperature. The buoyancy of the water allows exercises to be done with reduced impact on your joints – which on land may not be able to be done due to pain or range limitations. The higher density of the water compared with the outside air increases the resistance to movement, which helps improve muscle strength.
The classes involve all forms of exercises including upper & lower body strengthening. It aims to improve core strength, aerobic fitness and flexibility by incorporating whole-body movements and stretches. These could be in the form of walking, side-stepping, marching, mini squats or arm raises, for example.

What to do next if you decide you want to start hydrotherapy?
Give us a call (07 3888 6699) or pop into one of our practices, and book in to see one of our exercise physiologists for an assessment, so we can determine the best exercises for you to be completing in the pool and to ensure that hydrotherapy is the right class for you! If you are already seeing one of our professionals then have a chat to them in your next session about starting hydrotherapy. The class costs $15, but this does not cover the pool entry fee, which you can pay as a casual entry fee each time or as a longer-term membership.
